Small But Mighty – Kids Jiu-Jitsu

It’s no secret that learning Martial Arts  is beneficial for children, the reasoning parents choose this type of discipline may vary from family to family. Many children require an additional discipline besides a parental figure. For others, it may be as simple as confidence building, making friends, or promoting exercise. Whatever the reason, we have a Martial Arts program for kids of all ages and sizes.

At our Martial Arts centre in Vernon B.C., the students learn far more knowledge than just self defence. Kids have an unspoken ability to pick up and memorize techniques taught by the professor faster than most adults. It almost appears as second nature. The technical breakdown of an armbar, defences, sweeps and take-downs for a child can look effortless in a very short time. Kids also have the ability to fearlessly attempt any position or technique presented in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The future of our sport is in great hands.

Here are a few quotes from kids when asked “What do you like most about Jiu-jitsu?”.

“Rolling with my friends and when we do warm ups like bear walks” – Aliyah, Age 7

“I like winning at tournaments” – Hannah,  Age 8

“I like how my team/gym mates are like a family how they all look out for each other” – Dykoda, Age 13

Children that train jiu-jitsu in a reputable facility develop excellent interpersonal skills, and share many friendships and quality relationships with coaches within the acadamy. It builds character, but in the innocent way, sometimes it’s perfectly okay to ‘let your guard down’ and be yourself. We love watching the little ones develop in to strong, happy, determined individuals.

Giving your children a positive environment to be challenged mentally and physically is a crucial part of growing up healthy. When your child is having fun and getting exercise without it seeming like a chore, it’s a win-win.

Why not let your kids come try a free class in a clean, safe and reputable Martial Arts acadamy in Vernon, B.C.!!
